Protection of turtles on Galapagos
Project Description
The project's main objective is to protect the remaining turtles population in the Galapagos National Park. As is well known, Galapagos turtles are exploited commercially. The capture of such turtles is carried out via an expansive network of trappers, hunters, and intermediaries.
Furthermore, the wild populations of these turtles are generally made more vulnerable to such exploitation due to biological characteristics of late maturity, low annual reproductive rate, high mortality amongst juveniles, and the degradation and destruction of their habitat.
Conservation programs are developed to help this species and other native fauna.

Volunteering in Mindo Cloud Forest
Project Description
Mindo is a region of enormous biodiversity and is internationally renowned for its significant species of birds. For several years, the old growth forest has been cut down to make way for sugar cane plantations and grazing areas for livestock.
Volunteering at Mindo is a great opportunity for those interested in becoming acquainted with the biodiversity of the region as well as getting to know the customs and traditions of local people. Also, such an experience provides ample opportunity to improve language skills, particularly in Spanish, and share your knowledge of environmental and social work with other volunteers and local members of the community.

Volunteering with a eco-family
Project Description
Such an opportunity allows volunteers to reside with and work alongside rural families in their goals to implement eco-friendly agricultural practices such as conserving primary forest, reviving endemic species through reforestation, using organic farming methods, studying and monitoring birdlife, and constructing a botanical garden (with the use of orchids and bamboo).
Local families are also involved in the planting, harvesting and processing of the world renowned Ecuadorian, superior quality cocoa bean; there's also an extensive collection of exotic tropical fruit. Located within the project grounds are five hectares of secondary forest in which the reforestation of various native species, especially of previously deforested hardwoods, is being carried out. All volunteers will have the opportunity to participate in all of the aforementioned activities. Also, volunteers can give English and/or IT lessons to pupils at a nearby school.
