Why Service Learning with EVF Print E-mail

Why Ecuador?

There is no better place than Ecuador for International Service Learning Program because of the diverse range the opportunities it offers in a relatively small geographic area. Ecuador has something to offer every visitor, no matter his or her interests.

As one of the most biologically, geographically, and ethnically diverse countries in the world, individuals interested in areas as varied as anthropology, archaeology, biology, conservation, culture, education, languages, and travel (to name a few)

will encounter endless surprises in this relatively small country. From the rich biological diversity in the Galapagos Islands and the hot, sun-kissed beaches of the coast, to the snow-capped peaks of the Andes and the thick rainforests of the Amazon, there is something for everyone!

Why EVF?

As there are many sectors in Ecuador that are in need of volunteer support, the Ecuador Volunteer Foundation offers Service Learning  opportunities abroad in a variety of projects that focus on a range of topics, including social, community, educational, healthcare, and environmental issues. Through the students’ participation and knowledge, the students offer solutions to create change and improve the quality of life in the sectors of society that need it most.

The Ecuador Volunteer Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Quito, Ecuador. We are the leading non-government, non-profit organization volunteer organization in Ecuador, and the only Ecuadorian organization legally authorized to organize volunteer projects for international volunteers. Ecuador Volunteer has organized projects for hundreds of volunteers that offer a variety of opportunities in different areas that directly benefit over 1500 families throughout the country. Our volunteers do much more than simply “help”; through their work, there is a visible transformation in both the communities and the volunteers themselves.

Our organization has also worked with numerous international institutions to organize high quality Service Learning Programs. We look forward to helping your institution plan a Service Learning Program that maximizes your students’ academic experience, while making a difference in the lives of countless Ecuadorians.

Who Can Apply

At the moment, the Ecuador Volunteer Foundation does not offer Service Learning Programs for individual students. We work primarily with international academic institutions and serve primarily as the host organization in Ecuador.

If your institution is interested in designing a Service Learning Program with Ecuador Volunteer, please contact our International Programs Coordinator, Heather Hutchison ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ).

Please be aware that student groups should include at least 8 students to take advantage of group rates. Once we hear from you, we will send detailed information about the projects and itineraries we offer to make your program one your students will never forget.
